Swimming in Sweaters

Living in Washington life update...

10/2025

I've been living in Washington State for 10.5 months, and let me tell you, it has been the most challenging and difficult season of my life. LMAO.

The woman I am now is not the woman who left salt lake city almost a year ago. This woman that I am now has known even more growth and struggle than I ever thought was possible. Yet at the same time..this is the softest my soul and heart has ever been.

But this post is meant to be what was the turning point for me. Because I was painfully unhappy until about August of this year.

If you've been to Washington State, then you know Lake Crescent is a must see. She old, deep, and as clear water as you could ever hope to find.

On a drive back from Forks, my bestie and I pulled over to admire her beauty. We stopped at one of those Day Use areas and marveled in her beauty.

It wasn't long before we were being physically pulled into Her.

I had seen Lake Crescent before, from the road, but the memory felt like a dream. Maybe I had envisioned her. I didn't know her name back then. Almost 10 years later, I saw the vision again, and I couldn't simply just pass by her again.

We initially planned on sitting on the beach, we brought no swimming attire after all. "Just for a few minutes." But before we knew it we were wading in. Luckily because the weather can be tricky in Washington State, we had back up clothes in case it got too warm.

We waded into the crystal clear blue water in our sweaters and leggings.

I returned to myself in that moment, wading deeper and deeper until finally we were swimming, looking 6 feet below us at the beautiful lake bed. I wish I could explain how truly beautiful and blue that water is. It was a transcendental euphoric experience. I held my breath as I went under, opening my eyes to the most beautiful emerald blue color.

Finally peace. Finally a sense of belonging.

"You are meant to be here." the bluegreen goddess whispered.

I am not the woman I was. The baptism in her waters ensured that.

So, we swam in our sweaters and are changed because of it.

and now, we always keep swimsuits with us, just in case.
